Who we are

Sherry's family and friends are joining together in fundraising campaigns for the National Foundation for Transplants (NFT) Texas Lung Fund in honor of Sherry Hagerman.

Have you ever wished you could make a difference in someone’s life?  Let me tell you about Sherry “TuTu” Hagerman

Sherry has been a loving, caring wife, mother of 1 grown daughter, and grandmother to 2 grandchildren.  She resides in Haslet, Texas. July, 2006, Sherry was diagnosed with Scleroderma lungs and Pulmonary Hypertension.  Her disease has brought rapid deterioration of breathing and damage to her heart.  So much so, Sherry was admitted to University of San Francisco Medical Center so ill she was not allowed to leave until lungs became available for her. On March 26, 2008, Sherry received her “second chance at life”.

It is truly a miracle that she is alive…

A double lung transplant costs approximately $500,000.  But that’s not all. Sherry will need anti-rejection medications for the rest of her life to keep her body from rejecting her new lungs. The cost of post transplant medications can range from $2,000 to $5,000 per month—and they are as critical to her survival as the transplant itself. She and her family are faced with a financial burden that follows these catastrophic diseases. Also Sherry will be raising funds for post transplant travel and lodging and other transplant-related costs. Her family and friends in Texas miss her and her inspiring positive attitude and spirit-filled personality.

Your help is greatly needed and will make a difference!

NFT, a non-profit 501(c)3 organization, conducts community fundraising campaigns nationwide, providing assistance to transplant patients in need. The local fundraising campaign currently underway in the area for the Texas Lung Fund will enable NFT to provide assistance to Sherry with the costs of the treatment and medications she needs to keep her new lungs healthy.
